C Contents Insurance – what’s usually covered
What does Contents Insurance- what’s usually covered mean?

By contracting Contents Insurance, you give yourself peace of mind that the contents of your home are protected in case one of the following events occurs:
  • Fire, lightning, earthquake or explosion – and here you might find the stipulation that if contents suffered melting for example (the electric cables in your home for instance), this is a damage not covered for unless it is accompanied by fire as well.

  • Violent storms – excepting the case when for example there are damages caused by the falling of your roof which was actually older than 10 years.

  • Flood – except the properties which are in a high risk area need flood insurance as a separate stipulation, and is not included in building/contents insurance.

  • Escape of water from pipes/ Escape of oil from the heating systems – neither is offered coverage for if the event occurs during a period the home is unoccupied (it is supposed that you make periodical checkup of the pipes and heating installations in order to avoid accidental leakage).

  • Theft – except cases when indeed robbery occurs and there is no evident sign of force or violence

  • Accidentally falling trees, telegraph poles- covering for damages incurring due to these events, but not supporting the costs of their removal (in case of a tree falling upon the house roof)

  • Heave and landslip

  • Impacts provoked by aerials, other vehicles or even animals
Moreover, differing from one insurance company to the other, they might offer you extra coverage like compensating up to a certain amount for the food you had in the freezer, stereo equipment damages, certain electronic data, and much other additional coverage.
